Meet Beatriz Mendoza

In 2017, I proudly served as a member of the Rancho Santiago. Community College District, Measure E Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. As a former student of a community college, I understand firsthand the importance of having access to the best resources, a great learning environment, and infrastructure that leads to student success.
I am a former City of Santa Ana Planning Commissioner and also served on the 7th Santa Ana General Plan Advisory Group, where we reviewed the City’s General Master Plan to help improve our city. While in college, I was the District Student Council Representative for the Coast Community College District and was the Associated Student Representative on the President’s Cabinet and Academic Senate. After obtaining my A.A., I transferred to UCLA and graduated with a degree in Political Science. I am a product of Santa Ana schools – elementary, intermediate and high school. I went to Madison Elementary, Lathrop Intermediate and Century High School. |
My two decades of public service began during college as a caseworker for the state legislature, and as a Senior Field Representative for a member of congress. Since then, I have built a career working with a number of local non-profits, including: CEO of the YWCA of Orange County, managing the Youth Empowerment Services (YES) Office in Anaheim, the Delhi Center in Santa Ana, and Chief of Staff of the California League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). I am currently on the board for a non-profit in Garden Grove.
My experience and knowledge encouraged me to start my own business educating families on financial wellness. Additionally, I work closely with the Vinh Doan Law Office in Garden Grove to help families prepare a will, trust, power of attorney, healthcare directive, etc.
As a former staff member for a congressional office, I co-chaired the Higher Education Advisory Board, where Chancellors, Deans,and college Presidents participated in a dialogue to improve higher education for all students.
Currently, my oldest son attends SantaAna College, my daughter is at UC Santa Cruz, and my youngest sonis at Segerstrom High School, where I am a member of the School Site Council.
